Politician Uses Election Poster to Rescue Ducklings From Reservoir

A Green Party councillor in Bangor, Northern Ireland, found an unexpected use for one of his discarded election posters on September 16 when he used it to reunite nine ducklings with their mother.

Bangor West Councillor Barry McKee used a Green Party election poster to encourage nine ducks to travel up multiple levels of a dam at the Portavo Resevoir.

McKee appears to have made a makeshift ramp out of planks of wood and tree branches to help the ducks to safety.

Footage of the rescue shared by the Green Party Northern Ireland shows McKee leading the ducks to safety before they’re reunited with their mother.

“Ever wonder how we use election posters after an election?” the party wrote on Twitter. “Bet mama duck was happy to get them back. Good work Barry.” Credit: Green Party Northern Ireland via Storyful
