Plans have been submitted to the city council to bring a new pool hall to Union Street, with the proposals filling the vacant upper floors above two high street shops.

Having recently seen Shotz pool bar open in the arches near Aberdeen railway station, the city could now be getting a second similar venue on the Granite Mile.

Located above the British Red Cross and PDSA charity shops, the new pool bar would fill the second floor of 191-197 Union Street.

It would include a range of games along with multiple pool tables, such as darts and arcade machines, complete with tables and seating as well as a bar area.

Plans come amid interest in pool halls, with Legends Sports Bar and Rileys Sports Bar also popular venues for those looking to play with friends, as well as Shotz.

They also follow a push to fill the upper floors of Union Street buildings which have lain vacant, with several plans put forward for new and modern flats in several buildings.

As well as a new pool hall, the Granite Mile could gain a new kebab eatery in place of the former Bank of Scotland branch just next door to the proposed games venue.
