Poopit Rock? Tourists Slammed For Defecating By Norway's Most Iconic Spot

Tourists visiting one of Norway’s most iconic spots have been slammed for persistently pooping in nearby bushes.

The stench of human faeces on the approach to “Pulpit Rock” has led some to rename the 600m high cliff as “Poopit Rock.”

The problem is that almost 300,000 visitors make a 2-hour hike to set foot on the plateau that overlooks Lysefjorden each year.

But there are no public toilets - forcing them to defecate in surrounding shrubs.

“It’s beginning to become a problem that there are no toilets along the trail to Pulpit Rock,” said Audun Rake, from the Pulpit Rock Foundation.

“There is excrement in almost every bush. On sunny days it smells,” The Local reports him as adding.

There is hope for future visitors, however, as the Foundation is hoping to open toilets along the trail before next summer.
