Pop Idol's Gareth Gates to serenade Leicester with iconic movie love songs

Pop Idol star Gareth Gates is coming to Leicester with a show dedicated to movie love songs. The talent show runner-up will perform classics from the silver screen at De Montfort Hall.

The production combines timeless ballads and modern favourites, with the star set to perform numbers including Unchained Melody and hits from Dirty Dancing. A venue spokesperson said the show will feature special visual effects alongside the musical performances.

De Montfort Hall say audiences can expect a journey through cinema's greatest love songs. The concert will showcase both classic and contemporary movie soundtracks.

Since finding fame as runner-up on Pop Idol in 2002, Gareth has enjoyed success both in music and theatre, the venue said. His achievements include topping the charts with Unchained Melody before starring in productions like Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Les Misérables.

Gareth is currently working on a new album for 2025 and developing a musical about a person who stammers. A De Montfort Hall spokesperson added the project has backing from West End producers.

Gareth Gates Sings Love Songs from the Movies will be performed at De Montfort Hall on Saturday, March 22, 2025, with tickets starting from £38.50. Meet and greet upgrades are available for £35 with limited availability, the venue added.
