'Pop-up' Storm Cell Brings Hail to California's Bay Area

Hail fell across parts of California’s Bay Area on Wednesday, March 10, while winter weather caused crashes on roadways in nearby areas.

“Be mindful of the potential for pop-up cells capable of small isolated hail, occasional lightning and moderate rain,” the National Weather Service warned on Wednesday morning.

Residents posted video showing hail pattering down onto streets, lawns, and parks. Some also captured lightning.

Winter weather in nearby Santa Rosa County caused “multiple crashes,” according to the local fire department.
