Pope Francis launches Click to Pray prayer app

The Pope has unveiled his own profile on his official prayer app which launched on Sunday.

Click To Pray allows users to post prayer intentions so others can pray for them, with users being able to see who has completed their request.

Pope Francis launched the app on Sunday during his Angelus address, and encouraged young Catholics to download it.

It is the official app for World Youth Day, which takes place from January 22 to 29, and almost 800,000 prayers have been added to it so far.

The app has three main sections: “Pray with the Pope”, where the Pope’s monthly prayer intentions are available to view; “Pray every day”, encouraging users to pray thrice daily; and “Pray with the network”, where others prayers are available.

During Sunday’s service, he also said he was “thinking of the 170 shipwrecked vitims in the Mediterranean.”

The Pope added: “They were looking for a future for their lives. Victims, perhaps, of human traffickers. We pray for them and for those responsible for what has happened."

He also addressed the people of Colombia, saying he was “close to them” after a terrorist attack.
