Popular Aberdeen Sunday Football team going from strength to strength
A new football group has gone from strength to strength and become one of Aberdeen's most popular community outfits in the city.
Jordan Campbell, founder of Sunday Football which launched in January 2023, has been blown away by the group's growth and impact over the past year.
Sunday Football started as a casual seven-a-side game at Goals, attracting 18 players each week. However, within just a few weeks, the group grew rapidly, prompting a shift to 11-a-side matches at Banks O' Dee's stadium.

Since then, they have consistently had well over 30 players each week and have focused entirely on 11-a-side football.
In June, after six months at Banks O’ Dee Stadium, Sunday Football established a new partnership with Aberdeen FC, and now hosts weekly sessions at Cormack Park on Sundays from 6pm to 8pm.
With the use of two pitches, the group accommodates up to 60 players, with games organised over WhatsApp to reach even more participants from across the city.
Players of all abilities are welcome, ranging from age 25 to 60, with games officiate by a qualified SFA referee. The group prides itself on safety and inclusivity at sessions, sticking to its core values include integrity, respect, fairness, and equality.
Jordan said: "In May, recognising the group’s success, I set a goal to form a competitive Sunday football team. Since then, we’ve been playing regular fixtures and are now looking to play competitive games every month.
"We're aiming to compete not only in friendly matches locally but also in tournaments across the UK and internationally."
Sunday Football has secured several deals in recent months, including Michael Gall Transport who has sponsored the home kit, Joe’s Tyres Aberdeen who sponsored the away kit, and R Removals who have put their support towards both kits with small business logo at the rear of both shirts.
Jordan also brought Daryl Mitchell on board to help manage the group. Daryl founded Tracking Street Grampian and has a wealth of experience, with the pair keen to continue growing the group.
In October the group launched its own website, offering bookings, fixtures, and giving new members the chance to learn about the group's values and mission.
As part of Sunday Football's ongoing commitment to giving back to the community, they have proudly sponsored a new kit for a local girls' football team aged eight to 10, as well as supporting two community events in 2024.
The group has had its challenges however, as Jordan explained: "One of our biggest challenges has been securing affordable transportation for away fixtures. To overcome this, we’ve recently purchased a 17-seater bus.
"We are now looking for sponsors to help fund a full wrap for the bus, and we have a variety of sponsorship packages available. We are grateful to have two sponsors on board so far
"A big thank you to Calvin and Leanne at Bounty Competitions for sponsoring, we really appreciate their support. We also want to thank Dino, owner of Algiers Barbers, for his sponsorship."
