Popular Birmingham market 'absolutely gutted' to cancel amid 40mph wind worries
Organisers of a popular monthly market in Birmingham say they're 'absolutely gutted' to be cancelling this weekend's event due to concerns over high winds. Birmingham Artisan Markets runs community events across the city and they've been forced to make the 'difficult' decision to cancel the Bournville Artisan Market on Sunday, October 20.
The thriving market is held on Bournville village green on the third Sunday of every month. Bosses say that an area of low pressure has caused concern of 40mph gusts of wind and as such, the market will not go ahead to protect shoppers and stallholders.
The next Bournville Artisan Market will be held on Sunday, November 17. Shoppers keen to peruse items from local makers, crafters and businesses can do so at St Paul's Square in the Jewellery Quarter on Saturday, October 19.

"We can work through rain, snow and sun (ha, remember that), but we can't put a market on if there are high winds predicted. It's not safe for visitors or traders.
"Earlier this week, the weather on Sunday looked fine. Then yesterday, out of nowhere, an area of low pressure popped up. It's going to be coming our way, and by Sunday, it could mean gusts of wind up to 40mph.
"We had 40 amazing traders lined up for this Sunday. But hopefully, they will all be with us next month on the 17th of November.
"We will still be holding our Jewellery Quarter Artisan Market in St Paul’s Square on Saturday, but sadly, you'll have to wait till November now for the return of the Bournville Artisan Market. See you next month, Bournville."
