Popular city centre restaurant to hand out hundreds of free Sunday roasts this weekend
A popular Manchester restaurant has announced that its beloved roasts will be returning to the menu this week - and they’ll be free until they’re gone this Sunday.
Maray, which has a restaurant in the city centre on Brazennose Street, off Albert Square, has become known for its Sunday roasts which take inspiration from Middle Eastern cuisine and feature a wealth of flavours.
The Lincoln Square venue’s take on the British staple features classic Yorkshire puddings and roast veggies partnered with crispy fenugreek potatoes and butternut squash tershi - a classic spiced dip found on dining tables across Libya.
When it comes to the main offering, diners can choose from lemon, za’atar and saffron spiced chicken, roast beef sirloin or a spiced chickpea nut roast - which are served with gooey cauli cheese and, of course, unlimited gravy.
Thankfully, after a hiatus, the roasts are returning this weekend and hundreds are going to be handed out on Sunday (September 22) from 12pm until they’re all gone. There is no need to book a table, just turn up early with an empty stomach and hope you’re one of the lucky ones to grab a freebie.
For those unable to head down on Sunday, Maray will be serving the roasts each week and they’ll be available starting from £19 per person. The restaurant takes its inspiration from the Parisian arrondissement of Le Marais - a neighbourhood renowned for its bustling charm and Middle Eastern cuisine.
For those who are able to save room for dessert, the so-called ‘peoples’ favourite’ Baklava cheesecake remains on the Maray menu. Made up of a Baklava base, sumac, pistachio and salted caramel is all piled atop a creamy, rich slice for something decadent.
Maray opened in Manchester two years ago following major success with its venues in Liverpool - situated on Bold Street and at Albert Dock. Having scored itself reviews from national critics, the Manchester venue opened after pop-up collaborations with the likes of Bundobust and the Track brewery in Piccadilly.
Maray is on 14 Brazennose Street, Manchester, M2 6LW. No need to book to grab a free roast this Sunday (September 22), but bookings to visit on future occasions can be made online here.
