A popular Indian takeaway in Edinburgh has issued a 'sudden' announcement to customers.

Family-run Bombay Spice in Leith, which boasts four stars on Google reviews, told customers via Facebook they were temporarily closed until further notice.

The restaurant's bosses apologised to customers for the unexpected news.

The post read: 'We will be temporarily closed until further notice. Sorry about the suddenness."

It will be a blow to the takeaway's regulars who praise the food and staff.

One said on Google Reviews: "Incredible locally owned business! I got the large mixed kebab, my partner got the beef korma, my mum got the prawn chasni and my stepdad got the lamb ceylon.

"Incredible! The food is always out of this world, the service is always friendly and attentive and it's so reasonable for how much you get."

Another said: "Whole overall experience was fantastic as always, no complaints just compliments to the chef and front of house staff, credit where credits due 10 out of 10."

"Small family run restaurant and takeaway. The waiting staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was well made and fresh, reasonably priced. Well worth a visit," A third commented.
