Popular Helston café announces reopening date after four month closure
The owner of a café in Helston has thanked its customers for their support during the four-month closure for vital repair and refurbishment works.
After four months, The Crate will reopen on Friday, February 3.
Since its closure in October 2022, the cafe has welcomed a new kitchen, installed by local gas and engineering company MSB, a brand-new extension unit from MFC (Mid Fabric Cornwall) and extra seating for customers.
The Crate owner Dawn Jones said: “I am so excited to finally be reopening again after such a long old slog.”
There have been a few tweaks to the menu, which will now include paninis and soups as well as the usual items – including the popular breakfast baps, light lunches and homemade cakes.
With ‘keeping it local’ in mind, Dawn uses local suppliers for her produce including Baker Tom and Scorses, and coffee from Voyager in Devon.
The café, which is located on Rowe’s Lane, Helston has become increasingly popular in recent years.
As well as homemade food and for friends to meet up, it is also home to rescue donkeys from the Flicka Foundation, Penryn.
The donkeys are a popular attraction for children, who like to stroke them. Dawn fosters the donkeys to give them a chance to ‘live their best life.’
With last-minute preparations taking place for the grand re-opening on Friday, Dawn would like to thank the customers for their support throughout the past four months.
“I would really like to thank our customers for all their support during the past four months. We have had such lovely support and messages to say they can’t wait for us to re-open.
“We can’t wait to see you all again and welcome you back to The Crate.”
The Crate is open on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays between 9am and 3pm.
