A holiday park wants to demolish its leisure building and build a new facility. Pario Leisure bought Gimblet Rock Holiday Park in Pwllheli from Haulfryn earlier this year.

Agent Cadnant Planning said that Pario have already "started investing significantly in the site". Now the company has plans for the leisure facility which they say is "dated".

They want to demolish the current site. The owners would then build a new two storey building at the same location.

In a statement, Cadnant said: "The current leisure building is dated and not deemed fit for purpose in its current state. As the site has expanded over time, it has outgrown the existing leisure building.

"The existing building is not deemed of high quality in design or finish and detracts from the views of the site. Due to its existing condition, it is not considered viable to retain any of the current building and it has therefore been decided that a replacement leisure building should be erected in its place and generally keep the same footprint as the original.

"As the site is constrained by the surrounding caravans, it is not possible to extend the footprint of the new building within its ground floor, it is therefore proposed for the new leisure building to have a second storey, to make the most effective use of the space and be able to provide suitable space within the new leisure building.

"The layout of the proposed leisure building will aim to make best use of the space of both the ground and first floors. This will include a new room on the ground floor to serve as a workspace, along with gym studios and a gym room upstairs, a changing room, along with new layouts for the laundry room, bin room and plant room."

They added: "The development would result in an increase in staff on the holiday site, rising from 12 full-time staff to 14. Therefore, the development would create a positive economic impact through the creation of two additional full-time employment positions."

This will now be considered by planners at Cyngor Gwynedd.
