A family-run restaurant in Coventry has reopened in the city centre after closing and relocating due to the City Centre South redevelopment scheme. Noodle Bar is now open on High Street, replacing the former pizza restaurant Basement Browns.

The restaurant specialises in authentic Cantonese and Oriental cuisine. It is famous for its Big Bowl Meal Deals (known as ABC), where customers choose a meal topping, cooking style, and either noodles or rice.

They softly reopened on November 17, which was said to be 'fairly successful'. The team gained a lot of support online from old and new customers. As the new site is in the heart of the city and is more 'fast-paced,' the team is aiming to cater to customers 'trying to have a quick lunch and move on.'

Bosses added that due to the limitations and nature of the new premises, they have decided to switch to an 'order over the hot' counter restaurant. This means switching to a counter service like 'a canteen' where the most popular dishes will be prepared in advance, and customers will select the ABC Meal Deal from the prepared dishes.

However, due to many comments and feedback on the new layout and many customers preferring the 'made to order method', the team decided yesterday (November 18) to recommence from today (November 19). The team has also decided to offer a children's menu to cater to families.

In a statement on Facebook, the team said: "Thank you to everyone who visited us on our second day of the soft opening. We’ve had a lot of comments and feedback. We were so happy to see so many familiar faces coming back and it felt like being at the old place again.

"The comments were largely similar to the ones on Facebook. They’d prefer the made-to-order method, so we will just do that starting tomorrow. The old Noodle Bar menu will be available, but some dishes may be temporarily unavailable."

Many comments online praised the reintroduction of the old style into the new premises. Dewi Jones said, "Old way all the way, but I love the fact you listen to your customers. Coventry would be much worse off without a noodle bar, so hopefully, there is a way to make it work."

David O'Callaghan said, "Great decision. The old menu was so good; losing it would have been such a shame. We’ve been enjoying your food for 14 years. I can’t wait to visit your new home." Craig Hartwell, who visited on November 18, said: "Came in yesterday and ordered from the menu. Such great friendly service with a quick turnaround, which with a hungry kid was super helpful. Will defo be back."

Noodle Bar is now located at 14 High Street, CV1, 5RE. It will be open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. For more information about Noodle Bar, visit its Facebook page.
