The Fox and Hounds on the corner of Windsor Great Park would usually be serving customers delicious cocktails and stonebaked pizzas. With a prime garden patio perfect for soaking up the sun, it was the perfect place to go for a summer drink.

However, the popular destination has shut its doors to the public after the former owners, who ran the business for 13 years, decided to move on. Run by the Perry family for more than a decade, the pub has built a loyal customer base and a reputation for being a “hidden gem”.

The traditional pub in Englefield Green took on a polo theme inside, with a large bar sweeping across the front of the building and plenty of spaces to stand and socialise, or sit down and grab some food. Since announcing the closure, the family has thanked staff and customers for supporting them.

The statement from the Perry family reads: “The Perry family would like to say an enormous THANK YOU to all of you who have supported us along the way over the last 13 years. It has been a pleasure to be part of the community and to have met so many wonderful people.

“The Fox made Haim so very happy and we are so grateful to the forever friends we have made. A very special thank you goes to our wonderful staff from over the years who there’s no doubt, we couldn’t have done it without them. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

The gastropub had rave reviews from customers some who called it a 'hidden gem'. A cosy room round the corner of the bar made a great spot for customers to bring a larger group of friends for a private dining feel. Towards the back, is a restaurant space for more formal dining, and another garden space at the back where customers could see their pizzas being made with a stone oven.

Often customers would see horses visit the pub too, which had a specific place to 'park' ponies in the front garden. It was also dog friendly, and customers could bring their pups in to join them for a drink, with treats on the bar.

It is not yet clear when the pub will reopen, however the website states the closure is temporary during the change of ownership. This does not mention whether new publicans have already been appointed. SurreyLive has contacted the former owners for comment.
