A beloved local in Taunton, The Waggon pub - previously known as the Waggon and Horses - has closed down, only less than a year after a brief revival under new management last year.

The pub, which had only just welcomed patrons back in March last year, has now shut its doors due to the departure of the pub manager.

The traditional-style pub, boasting an outdoor seating area and beer garden perfect for watching live sports, is part of the extensive portfolio of UK pubs owned by Stonegate.

The chain are now actively seeking a new publican to breathe life into the business, offering the role at a guide price of £355 per week. To sweeten the deal, they're also providing the first eight weeks rent-free for the incoming manager.

With an annual turnover projected at £382,838 and described as a "low ingoings" opportunity by Stonegate, The Waggon awaits a vibrant new leader to reopen its doors.

Stonegate's spokesperson put out a call for potential managers: "Are you fun-loving and larger than life? Do you have a passion for people and making things happen?"

They added: "Then this could be just the opportunity for you! The property has all of the facilities to offer that 'something special' to the diverse blend of locals and we are looking for the new leader to make that happen."

The Waggon, a well-known pub in north Taunton, is famous for its Sunday carvery. A spokesperson for Stonegate added: "Offering some good quality, honest pub food is a great way to add to the trade throughout the week but this really comes to life at the weekend with its classic Sunday carvery offer."

"This is a great addition and can really help take the stress out of Sunday lunch for all of those local families. The catering kitchen is directly behind the bar and makes life really simple operationally."
