A popular Thai restaurant is seeking to expand its footprint by taking over the neighbouring unit.

Tanyalak Thai Street Food on George Street in Hull city centre has submitted an application to Hull City Council setting out plans to expand their restaurant into an empty retail unit next door.

The restaurant currently serves authentic Thai street food from 35 George Street, but they are hoping to soon expand into the neighbouring 33 George Street, doubling the restaurant's footprint.

Upon reviewing the restaurant earlier this year, a Hull Live reporter described Tanyalak as "incredibly busy". They also said: "I hadn't booked and was fortunate there was still a free table because the restaurant quickly filled up." The bushiness' expansion plans will therefore likely be welcome news to many.

Having received the application, Hull City Council will be open to feedback on the plan for a 28 day period following the submission date (Nov 20). Anyone wishing to comment on the application can do so by emailing liquor@hullcc.gov.uk.

Following the consultation period, the Council's licensing sub-committee will decide upon the application's fate.
