All Creatures Great and Small, Channel 5's recently-returned period drama, is set to feature a trio of Coronation Street stars in its next episode.

Episode 3 of season 5, titled 'Homecoming', airs tomorrow (October 3) on Channel 5 and features a Christening, an unwell goat, the return of Tristan Farnon, and some familiar soap faces.

It will star Gabriel Quigley, who played Caz Hammond's army welfare officer Lynda Aitken for a few episodes of Corrie back in 2016. In Creatures, she's playing James Herriot's mum Hannah, who is quite outspoken and has some awkward moments with daughter-in-law Helen.

Elsewhere in Corrie world, Helen actor Rachel Shenton recently hit out at criticism that the relationship between her character and veterinary surgeon James is "boring".

"It's something that we don’t see very often," she told Radio Times. "People make mistakes along the way throughout the series, we see that a couple of times yet even in those moments, you fully know that each party will do the right thing to bring it back together, right? It's just so lovely, always so refreshing to play.

"I know that – I think I've had a question before which was like 'Oh, is that a bit boring? That they always [come back together]'," she continued. "And I'm like 'No, it's the opposite of that'."

All Creatures Great and Small airs new episodes Thursday nights on Channel 5, and streams on My5.
