Posh town cuts back on hanging baskets - to save energy
A posh town will cut back on its award-winning hanging baskets by more than two thirds - to save energy. Councillors in Cheltenham have voted to drop the number of hanging baskets in the town from more than 300 to 100. The number of window boxes at the Town Hall and Municipal Offices will also be cut by 96. A decision was then made to change the annual bedding-based plants in Long Gardens to perennial plants. This switch was made as they "require less water and energy in their production and maintenance"- according to the meeting report.
