A POSTMAN suffered serious facial injuries in an “appalling” unprovoked attack just before Christmas.

Two men attacked the postman in Langney Road, Eastbourne, causing him thousands of pounds worth of dental work to repair his teeth.

Officers were flagged down by people around 1.15pm on Thursday, December 23.

When they arrived the man was being supported by three passersby who were giving him medical aid.

The two men drove off in a silver car, possibly a Volkswagen Golf along Langney Road before turning right onto Cavendish Place and then right again into Tideswell Road.

One of the men is described as white, dishevelled, around 5’10” of skinny build, with short fair hair, rough facial hair and rotten teeth.

PC Emma Hatt said: “This was an appalling and unnecessary act of violence in broad daylight on a postman simply going about his work just before Christmas. I would strongly urge anybody who maybe witnessed the assault or know of who may have been responsible to come forward and speak to us”.

Anyone with information or footage of the assault which could help officers with their investigation is asked to report online or call police on 101 quoting serial number 602 of 23/12.
