Power failure leaves Essex villages without water with warning of further problems
A number of Essex villages have been left without water after a power failure at a pumping station. Affinity Water said villages including Kelvedon Hatch, Chipping Ongar and other nearby areas were affected by the disruption with some residents being given bottled water.
The issues are affecting people within the CM15 postcode area and surrounding locations. Some customers may be experiencing low water pressure or no water at all.
Vulnerable households are being provided with bottled water whilst the disruption continues. Affinity Water has asked customers to avoid using appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers and electrical goods that use water during the issues.

They have also issued a warning of possible further repairs that could require water to be temporarily turned off. To mitigate against this, they have recommended people fill their kettles or fridge with drinking water.
For those experiencing no water, bottled water will be available for collection this evening (October 2) from 6pm to 10pm and the location will be updated on the Affinity Water website.
A spokesperson for Affinity Water said: "We are working closely with the electricity provider, UK Power Networks, to restore power to the pumping station. In the meantime, we have made adjustments to our network to ensure that the majority of customers in the affected area have access to water. The burst main in the area has also been repaired.
"Our Priority Services Register customers, including vulnerable households, are being prioritised, and bottled water deliveries have been arranged for this afternoon. For customers not currently on our Priority Services Register but in need of bottled water, we encourage you to call us at 0345 357 2407 for assistance."
