Boy band The Vamps could end Ed Sheeran’s success streak at the top of the album charts this week.
The foursome – Brad Simpson, Connor Ball, Tristan Evans and James McVey – are surging ahead of Sheeran with sales of their third studio album Night & Day, according to the Official Charts Company.
The boys are releasing their record in two phases, with part one, the Night Edition, out now and the second part, Day Edition, scheduled for release at the end of the year.
Early figures from the Charts company show that Night & Day is ahead of Sheeran’s Divide by two to one.
Clinching the top album spot at the end of the week would also mean The Vamps secure their first chart-topping UK album.

Sheeran, who made his acting debut in Game Of Thrones on Sunday night, has dominated the charts with his third record charting non-consecutively at the top for 14 weeks.
The Galway Girl singer is not the only musician facing a chart demotion as the catchy Spanish pop tune featuring Justin Bieber looks set to lose its top position on the Official Singles Chart.
Despacito, which also features Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, last week held on to the top position for the ninth consecutive week, making it the 20th song in UK chart history to spend nine or more weeks in the top spot.
However, this week it could be relegated into second position by DJ Khaled’s track Wild Thoughts, which features Rihanna and Bryson Tiller.
The song is 1,300 combined sales ahead of Despacito, the Official Charts Company has said.
