Power Line Blows as Fort Lauderdale Experiences Heavy Rainfall

Dramatic video shows the moment a power line exploded in Fort Lauderdale, on Florida’s southeast coast, on Tuesday, September 27, as torrential rain pelted the community.

Local Kurt Holstein took this video when he was standing by Harbor Beach.

Speaking to Storyful, Holstein said another two explosions occurred shortly before he started recording. “There were three large explosions over 30 seconds, and this video captured the third one. We had about 35 mph winds that night from Hurricane Ian,” he said.

The explosion came amid warnings of heavy rainfall and flooding due to the arrival of the storm. Credit: Kurt Holstein via Storyful
