Power Lines Explode During Severe Weather in Melbourne

Dramatic footage captured the moment power lines in Melbourne, Victoria, exploded as severe weather lashed the city on October 29.

This footage by Instagram user Zoe Vorenas shows wind whipping through trees before a fire is sparked on power lines in the distance, causing a bright flash.

On Friday morning, the Victorian State Emergency Service (VICSES) said they had received 1,670 requests for assistance in the past 24 hours.
