The first teaser for the second season of Preacher has arrived - and Dominic Cooper is well and truly back as Jesse Custer.

Jesse (Cooper) was last seen embarking on a road trip with Tulip (Ruth Negga) and Irish vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) to find God – and that's the literal God too, as the end of the first season saw Jesse reveal that God had stepped down from his seat in heaven.

And it doesn't exactly help that Jesse's still possessed by the spawn of an angel and a demon Genesis, giving the Reverend the power to command anyone.

Picking up where last season left off, the 30-second clip shows our favourite trash-talking clergyman causing even more mischief on his hunt for God, with Dexy Midnight Runner's 'Come on Eileen' providing the soundtrack to the mayhem.

"Are you kids, high?" They're asked by one priest at one point and - let's be honest - they probably are.

And while the rest of the short clip doesn't reveal much in terms of plot, it certainly does look like there will be a lot of reckless driving, '80s music and fortunately-timed explosions.

The official synopsis for season 2 describes a "genre-bending thrill ride that follows West Texas preacher Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip (Academy Award nominee Ruth Negga) and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) as they embark on a road trip to find God and are thrust into a twisted battle spanning Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between".

Preacher is based on a popular comic book series, and was adapted for television by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg for AMC.

The comic was created by Steve Dillion, who sadly passed away in October last year.

Preacher returns to AMC on Sunday, June 25.
