A pregnant cow became trapped in an outside swimming pool. Fire crews from Leicestershire were deployed to the scene to carry out the unusual rescue mission.

The pregnant heifer was found stuck in the pool at around 12.40pm on Monday (November 11) in Ketton, Rutland. The poor animal was trapped in two to three feet of water and unable to get out.

Crews from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service's (LFRS) Southern Fire Station and Oakham Fire Station were sent to the scene in Ketco Avenue. LFRS said that after initially draining the water from the pool, crews formulated a “rescue plan” with the farmer.

That rescue saw the cow lifted from the pool using specialist straps and farm machinery. A vet also attended and found that the animal was “fit and well”.
