Gogglebox star Ellie Warner has provided a worrying health update amidst her pregnancy.

Ellie, who appears on the show with her sister Izzi, revealed in the latest episode that she had been diagnosed with a form of diabetes.

Whilst watching The Apprentice, Ellie remarked: “Alan Sugar is my only sugar fix now I have got gestational diabetes."

As per the NHS, gestational diabetes sees blood sugar levels increase during pregnancy, but it usually subsidies after giving birth.

Ellie announced back in December that she and boyfriend Nat Eddleston were expecting their first child, referencing the first scan by saying the baby looked like a “jellied alien.”

With the 21st series of the show now underway, several former cast members have spoken about their stints on the show, with Paige Deville likening the experience to a pantomime.

“If you’re watching a juicy clip, producers say, 'You’re going to absolutely love this' through the speakers,” she said. “Sometimes they give you a 'three, two, one' countdown which gears you up and gets you ready to react. It’s a bit of a pantomime behind the scenes.

“You have to understand that you’re a character in a show and you can't be your 100 percent authentic self, otherwise everyone would be on their phones for half of the show,” she continued.

Another former star, Chantelle Walker, recently discussed her “bizarre” exit from the show, revealing that producers were largely silent in the matter.

“It was all a bit disappointing, I feel like we should have had more airtime but they chose to use less of us,” she said. “They told us they 'didn't have enough cameras to film us', so we thought they were going to come back and restart filming in the next season.

“That didn't happen. There was silence for a while and we didn’t know what was going on for months. Then they dropped us, which was a shock. There was no discussion, we couldn't understand why – but what can you do when they tell you they don’t want to film anymore?” she added.

Gogglebox airs on Friday nights at 9pm on Channel 4 and streams on All4.
