Pregnant Meghan Markle is reportedly hiring a birthing 'doula'

Meghan Markle hasn't been shy about wanting to do things her way since joining the royal family, and it seems the birth of her first child will be no exception.

The Duchess of Sussex, who is due to give birth in April, is reportedly employing a doula to be with her during the birth, according to US Weekly.

The doula is also set to be coaching Prince Harry on what to say while his wife is in labour.

A source told the US publication that the former actress wants to focus on being "calm" and having "positive energy" when welcoming her first child.

This would be the first time in centuries that a doula has been employed during a royal birth.

Who is the doula?

The doula is rumoured to be Lauren Mishcon, who has reportedly already visited Meghan at her home in Oxfordshire and at Kensington Palace several times.

The 40-year-old is married to Oliver Mishcon, whose grandad was head of legal firm Mishcon de Reya, which dealt with Princess Diana's 1996 divorce from Prince Charles.

"Staff at the Lindo Wing have been asked not to take holiday in April. Everyone thinks it's got something to do with the royal baby but no one is confirming anything," a source told the Telegraph.

It's the same maternity ward where theDuchess of Cambridgehad her three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. William and Harry were also born there.

There was some speculation that Meghan could decide to give birth at the NHS-run Frimley Park Hospital in Camberley, Surrey – where the Countess of Wessex had her two children.

Prices start at £5,900 for a one-night stay at the Lindo Wing and mums-to-be can also indulge in afternoon tea, gourmet meals and champagne to celebrate the birth.

Each room comes with a private ensuite bathroom (containing Elemis products), satellite TV, a radio, bedside phone, WiFi, a safe and a fridge.
