Chelsea sit three points clear at the top of the Premier League table after a busy weekend of action to mark the return from internationals.

The relentless Blues initially extended their early lead at the summit to six with a straightforward 3-0 win at Leicester that saw goals from Antonio Rudiger, N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic.

Liverpool later reduced that lead down to four with a dominant tea-time display at Anfield as they put Arsenal to the sword 4-0.

On Sunday, Manchester City beat Everton 3-0 to move above Liverpool into second place.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been sacked by Manchester United after a humiliating 4-1 loss at Watford, while Steven Gerrard and Dean Smith secured wins in their first matches in charge at Aston Villa and Norwich respectively.

West Ham’s impressive run came to an end at Wolves, while there were two six-goal thrillers between Burnley and Crystal Palace and Newcastle and Brentford.

Tottenham beat Leeds 2-1 in the final game of the weekend.
