Greggs is one of the UK's most recognisable brands. Their iconic sausage rolls and sweet treats are often a staple meal for those wanting a quick and cheap bite to eat.

Their popularity has resulted in hundreds of stores popping up across the country and in Essex. Their baked goods can be found in shopping centres at service stations and even converted banks.

But one such branch in Essex has gained popularity and has been described as leaving people "awestruck by its beauty". The brightly-coloured branch on the Mayflower Estate in Basildon stands out against some of the classic shop appearances.

A few years ago people on Reddit discussed the Basildon branch with plenty of users suggesting quirky nicknames. User 'FieryHugs' said it should be renamed 'Patisserie Gregorie'.

User 'AtJackBaldwin' commented: "The clean, swept lines remind one of a steak bake, fresh out of the oven." Another said: "Yep, that's a pretty sexy looking Greggs."

ShadowTheDutchie described the branch as the "coloured pencil Greggs". 'YT_Howesenber'' claimed to be a local and also complimented it as "a beauty".

One person was less than complimentary about the retail park, however. User 'YadMot' said: "Trust me mate, Mayflower is an absolute s*******. It is Basildon after all." Another person said it was "definitely the nicest thing in Basildon".

Other quirky Greggs outlets include in Scotland's capital where an old Edinburgh bank was turned into a bakery. The store has pillars and a crest above its door, as well as large sturdy windows.

Then in Peterborough, you can find a branch at Fletton Quays. The Greggs store blends in nicely with a new housing development – and if it wasn’t for the logo, you’d never know it was there.
