A new limited edition Prime drink will hit the shelves of Aldi today.

The new Prime X is a special partnership between Prime and the supermarket. Priced at £1.99, it is predicted shoppers “will go wild” for the drink as it will give fans the chance to win a $1m cash prize.

The interactive ‘hydrohunt’ challenge encourages shoppers to collect 12 bottles with unique barcodes to build an in-app map. Once all 12 are collected, hopefuls can uncover where ‘X’ marks the spot, to be in with the chance of winning a $1 million grand prize.

This equates to around £786,000. However, shoppers have been warned the drink is in limited supply. It will be part of Aldi’s Specialbuy range, and as with all Specialbuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Prime X is an edition of Prime Hydration, a sports drink 10% coconut water, contains electrolytes, B vitamins and BCAAs. It is not known however what exact flavour Prime X is. Prime Energy cans meanwhile contain caffeine.

The drink launched in the UK with much fanfare, with supplies rapidly decreasing due to high demand. On the day it was launched at one Aldi in Wirral, an employee told the ECHO the supermarket had to limit purchases to three per customer as many children queued outside to get the drink.

They said: "We had a long queue of about 60 kids outside the door from 7.30am. We did one flavour per customer so three maximum. We lined them all up on the till belts so there was no fighting getting them off the shelves.

"There were four cashiers and three bottles per customer so they were all gone by 8.05am."
