Prince George Thinks He’s Older Than He Is, Duchess Of Cambridge Reveals

Prince George may have only just celebrated his second birthday, but he’s already convinced he’s hit the third year mark.

The Duchess of Cambridge revealed her son’s age exaggeration during a visit to Portsmouth’s Royal Naval Base yesterday (July 26), admitting that the pint-sized royal likes to think he’s a whole year older than he actually is.

Kate, 33, shared her son’s amusing claims on a tour of the Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing headquarters, when introduced to two-year-old Freddie Wilson – the son of Rob Wilson, the team’s head coach.

“Hello princess, my name is Freddie Wilson,” the toddler said, greeting the Duchess.

The tot’s mum, Wendy Maxwell, reveals that Kate asked Freddie how old he was and he told her he’s three.

“When I said he is only two, she said, ‘George says that. He thinks that he’s older’.”

Kate also stopped to chat to two-year-old George Mills and his 13-week-old brother Harry – who was fast asleep at the time.

The mum-of-two reportedly asked George if he likes Peppa Pig, hinting that perhaps her son (like most toddlers) is a fan of the hit TV show. She also joked she hopes Charlotte would also be doing a lot of sleeping, like Harry.

The Duchess attended the event with Prince William by her side and the pair were all smiles during their child-free day date. The duo sported matching his ‘n’ her navy and red Henri Lloyd team pullovers. Their royal titles were embroidered on the back – just in case anyone didn’t know who they were.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s jacket was listed on the brand’s website yesterday as costing a gulp-worthy £9,999 – so it’s not an item of hers that most of us can afford to copy. Sorry, ladies.

Kate tamed her tresses into a sensible low ponytail, wore a black and white striped top under her team jumper and opted for jeans on her bottom half – a good choice considering the blustery weather on the coast.

She’s been a keen sailor since childhood, and appeared to have a great time at the event trying on virtual reality goggles and the in-house simulator.

The parents didn’t go home empty handed either. They received a number of gifts for both George and Charlotte at the event, including a couple of wooden replicas of the Navy’s two new aircraft carriers, the Queen Elizabeth and the Prince of Wales, and customised team shirts for their children.
