It may seem like Prince George was only born yesterday but the little royal is celebrating his fourth birthday today.

Kensington Palace has released a lovely portrait of George – who is known for his cheeky expressions – to commemorate the occasion.

Photographed by Getty Images’ Royal Photographer Chris Jackson, the official portrait shows George (and all his baby teeth) grinning.

It was taken in his home at the end of June.

In an official statement, the Palace expressed thanks from Kate and William, saying: “The Duke and Duchess are very pleased to share this lovely picture as they celebrate Prince George’s fourth birthday, and would like to thank everyone for all of the kind messages they have received.”

The young prince is probably feeling a little tired after spending the past five days travelling across Poland and Germany with his parents and two-year-old sister, Princess Charlotte.

Although the royal children remained firmly hidden on the tour, their appearances boarding and getting off the plane were enough to cause a frenzy across the globe.

George sported a few different variations of his shorts-and-shirt combo while Charlotte donned a number of cute printed dresses.
