Prince Harry has arrived back in the UK to attend the unveiling of a statue of Princess Diana, his first visit since Prince Philip's funeral and since becoming a father for the second time.

According to the Daily Mail, Prince Harry and Prince William both commissioned the statue of their late mother, to commemorate what would have been her 60th birthday, next Thursday.

The statue will reside at Kensington Palace and both William and Harry hope that its presence will help all those who visit the palace 'to reflect on their mother's life and her legacy,' according to a previous statement from Kensington Palace.

The intimate ceremony, which is said to have been scaled back due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, will be the first time the two princes have been in the same room since Prince Philip's funeral back in April. A larger, follow-up event is expected to take place in September, with former staffers and supporters of Diana in attendance this time.

Kate Middleton — along with some of Diana's relatives — are expected to attend the event next Thursday, which is hoped by many to be an opportunity for the two brothers to reconcile, since Harry and Meghan's explosive tell-all Oprah interview in March, in which the Harry described his relationship with William as one of 'space.'

The pair recently joined forces to give their blessing for Diana's wedding dress to be put on display for the first time — as part of more 60th birthday commemorations — at The Orangery at Kensington Palace, but this will be the first physical meet-up (bar the funeral) for the princes since the interview.

Although not due to take place until next week, Harry has arrived back in the UK early ahead of the statue unveiling, as he will likely have to quarantine beforehand.

Meghan, who gave birth to the couple's second child, Lilibet Diana, earlier this month, has understandably not joined her husband on his latest trip to the UK, instead staying at home in California with their newborn daughter and two-year-old Archie — just as she did for Philip's funeral in April, when she was eight months pregnant.
