Prince Harry ‘heartbroken’ over absent family ‘no matter how he tries to protest’ expert says
A royal expert has claimed that Prince Harry is “heartbroken” over the fact that his children could grow up not knowing close members of the Royal Family.
Writing in Woman magazine, Duncan Larcombe claimed that whilst Meghan Markle’s dreams had come true that Harry’s hadn’t and that whilst he had achieved his dream of being a “loving father and husband” that he had “gained” little else.
Mr Larcombe’s comments come as the row over Harry’s security continues and speculation mounts about whether he (and potentially Meghan) could make a more permanent return to the UK.
The speculation was turbocharged when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly purchased a property in Portugal, a short flight away from the country the pair left in 2020.
Running through the prince’s predicament, Mr Larcombe wrote: "Meghan’s dreams have all come true, but what about Harry’s? He is now richer than he was, even more famous and surrounded by celebrity hangers-on rather than the group of trusted people who called friends.
“The major change for Harry is having two children in his life and being able to play the role of loving father and husband, something he has always wanted. Though aside from that dream achieved, there is arguably little else he has really gained.
“No matter how he might try to protest, Harry will be missing his family and friends back in Britain and will be heartbroken that his children are being brought up without knowing the relatives he left behind.”

During 2024 there have been several reports and multiple comments made about whether Harry is missing the UK and steps he’s taking to build bridges between himself and other senior members of the Royal Family.
Speaking to The Mirror earlier this year, royal author Tom Quinn touched on this matter as his “honeymoon period” in the USA comes to an end. Mr Quinn said: “As time goes by, Harry misses some aspects of his old life in the UK.
“Inevitably, the honeymoon period where everything in the States is new and exciting is coming to an end and Harry is looking back at the past through rose-tinted spectacles. He misses his Old Etonian and army friends, many of whom have not visited as they don’t get on with Meghan.
"Harry is determined to find his own permanent home in the UK, which is partly why he’s continuing his legal action to get the British taxpayer to pay for his security."
Mr Quinn’s comments have been reflected by other royal commentators who have supposed that the Sussexes’ Portugal property could bring them closer geographically and emotional to Prince Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie.
On this matter, CambridgeLive reported that Princess Eugenie has had a positive reaction to the prospect of having her cousin nearby. A source said: “Eugenie is immensely fond of Harry and Meghan, as is Jack. They've always been incredibly close and it's extremely heartening to them that a wider (peace for the Sussexes) with the royals is finally in sight.”
Prince Harry's representatives have been approached for comment.
