Harry and Meghan are a long way from Frogmore Cottage, as it has been reported that the couple recently moved to Santa Barbara, California.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who were previously staying in producer Tyler Perry’s Beverly Hills mansion during lockdown in California, have struck out on their own and, according to a source, “settled into the quiet privacy of their community.”

It might come as little surprise the high profile couple chose the area, which is beloved by fellow celebrities, including SB empress Oprah Winfrey and newcomer Ariana Grande.

While it isn’t known where exactly the couple has purchased their home in Santa Barbara, many big names opt for ocean view homes and especially ones in Montecito - a neighbourhood nicknamed the ‘American Riviera’ - with gorgeous beaches and sprawling mansions.

For more on their neighbours, their glamorous homes and who they’re likely to run into on a supermarket run, read on.

Winfrey has a $48 million entire estate in Montecito, which she calls the Promised Land. Featuring mountain and ocean views, her home goes beyond the lavish 6 bedroom mansion with sprawling grounds including an orchard, ponds, tennis court, guest house and even a lake with fish.

Beside her main home, she has also purchased Jeff Bridges’ beautiful home and owns an additional property in the area.

Singer Ariana Grande purchased Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi’s Tudor-style home in the Montecito area for $6.75 million in June.

Nicknamed The Porter House, the home is actually a pair of 1700s English barns from Surrey that were taken apart and shipped to California to be reconstructed as a larger, charming mansion.

DeGeneres and de Rossi have an impressive Montecito real estate portfolio, which used to include the house they sold to Grande, an apartment and a breathtaking $27m clifftop home with an infinity pool where they live full time.

Viewers of the talk show host's programme will have seen the latter as DeGeneres has been filming at home over lockdown, however, what they might not have seen is its stunning Balinese-inspired exteriors. Given DeGeneres has previously defended the Sussexes publicly, she could be high on the dinner invite list at Prince Harry and Meghan's new pad.

Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus invited The New York Times in to see her renovated Santa Barbara beach house in 2003, an energy-efficient home where she lives part-time.

Featuring eco-conscious choices including a ‘thermal chimney’, chemical-free hot tub and rooftop solar panels, they use it as a weekend getaway from the bustle of central LA.

Perry already owns a home in Santa Barbara, however, she and her fiance Orlando Bloom were recently seen looking for some new digs in the Montecito area.

It’s said the pair were interested in two different homes - one priced at £7.6m with six bedrooms, another at £8.4m with five with ocean views.

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman and her husband Benjamin Millepied have a stunning Santa Barbara 10.4 acre home, which hugs the coastline in Montecito. It set the family back $6.5 million and is surrounded by gorgeous jungle-like foliage, giving the family plenty of privacy.

Rob Lowe

Lowe is a long-time fan of Santa Barbara. Back in 2010, he and his wife Sheryl gave Architectural Digest a look inside their gorgeous Georgian-style manor home in the area.

They hired everyone from an architect to a Feng Shui master to perfect the space, but he’s been trying to move the property for a while and recently had to slash his asking price by half.

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis

Kutcher and Kunis splashed out on a 6 bedroom $10m home in Santa Barbara, which features ocean and mountain views plus 3,100 square feet to run around in.

It seems likely Harry and Meghan might only catch glimpses of the couple and their children, as their primary home is believed to be in Beverly Hills.

Paltrow bought a $4.9m home in the area back in 2016, which features striking grounds and a pool to die for. Sadly, the home was one of four hundred hit pretty badly by mudslides and while it wasn’t destroyed, its grounds were ruined.

Prince Harry may have already had a guest cameo in Star Wars: The Last Jedi as a Stormtrooper, but he’s now closer than ever to Star Wars creator George Lucas.

Lucas owns a $28m beachfront home slightly down the road from Santa Barbara in Carpinteria, which is about ten miles down the highway.
