Prince Harry 'pleaded' with Royal Family to postpone heartbreaking move
Prince Harry 'begged' the Royal Family to delay a heartbreaking announcement, it jhas been reported. Omid Scobie, a pal and insider close to Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle, has reported in Endgame, his book, how Harry demanded action amid the Queen's death at Balmoral in 2022.
T he Duke wanted Buckingham Palace to wait to announce the late Queen Elizabeth II's death as he wanted to be with the family, Scobie writes. The extract reads: "When Harry’s plane finally touched tarmac twenty minutes later, he received a text from Meghan urging him to call ASAP followed by a breaking news alert via the BBC News app with the announcement of the Queen’s death."
The Palace did agree to wait for Harry to arrive, but eventually they decided to announce the news without him. A spokesperson for the King said in a statement: "The public was only informed after every family member had been informed."

The newspaper also quoted a source saying that the King was “adamant” that all members of 'the Firm' had to be informed of the monarch’s death before the palace broke the news. Harry later remembered his grandmother's "infectious smile" in a touching tribute to the late Queen.
Describing Elizabeth II as a "guiding compass" in her commitment to service and duty, Prince Harry said he was grateful for the "special moments" they shared. "You are already sorely missed, not just by us, but by the world over," he said.
The duke also thanked the Queen for her "sound advice". In his statement, Prince Harry echoed words spoken by the Queen's husband the Duke of Edinburgh: "Life, of course, consists of final partings as well as first meetings." He said: "Granny, while this final parting brings us great sadness, I am forever grateful for all of our first meetings - from my earliest childhood memories with you, to meeting you for the first time as my Commander-in-Chief, to the first moment you met my darling wife and hugged your beloved great-grandchildren.
"I cherish these times shared with you, and the many other special moments in between. You are already sorely missed, not just by us, but by the world over. And as it comes to first meetings, we now honour my father in his new role as King Charles III."
