Days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they plan to step down as ‘senior' members of the Royal Family, the Duke of Sussex’s ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas has discussed her feelings on the matter. More specifically, her feelings about the way that the British tabloid press has been handling it.

Bonas, who is a professional dancer and actress, dated the father-of-one for two years before splitting from him in 2014. The 30-year-old was seen among the guests at Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding in May 2018 and has since announced her engagement to estate agent Harry Wentworth-Stanley.

In a new interview with ES Magazine, the White House Farm star explained that she has been asked to give her position on 'Mexit,' but has declined to give any specifics.

‘I wouldn't take a position on that because it would be a headline,’ she told the publication.

When quizzed about whether she ‘felt for’ the Duchess of Sussex following the press scrutiny she’s received since entering the royal spotlight, Bonas added that ‘out of respect’ she didn’t want to give her answer.

‘It feels like a long time ago,’ she said of her relationship with the royal. ‘When it comes up it feels strange because I'm in a different place.’

On still being linked to Harry in the media, Bonas added: 'No one likes to be labelled.

'The hurdles for me are when I’m trying to do my work and people want to talk about him. I work very hard and love what I do but it is still something I have to contend with.'

Following Meghan and Harry’s announcement via Instagram last week, Queen Elizabeth II released a statement expressing her support for the couple and their son, Archie.

‘Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family,’ the Monarch stated.

‘My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan's desire to create a new life as a young family. Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.’

Following a visit to Canada House in London last week ahead of their announcement, Markle returned to Canada where she, Harry and Archie had spent six weeks over the Christmas period.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry was seen at Buckingham Palace on Thursday to host the Rugby League World Cup 2021 draw.

On Wednesday, Harry’s brother Prince William and sister-in-law Kate Middleton visited Bradford, Yorkshire. The trip came days after the brothers issued a statement after ‘false’ news came to light about the state of their relationship.

'For brothers who care so deeply about the issues surrounding mental health, the use of inflammatory language in this way is offensive and potentially harmful,’ the pair stated in a joint statement, according to Sky News.
