Prince Harry is set to receive a significant gesture from his father King Charles III on his upcoming birthday, as reports suggest the monarch plans to extend an olive branch. The Duke of Sussex will celebrate his 40th birthday on September 15, reportedly spending the day with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, two.

Following the family celebration, he's expected to enjoy a lads' getaway trip with some of his closest friends, while the Duchess stays at home. Despite being thousands of miles away, his UK-based Royal relatives are also said to be planning well-wishes for him.

His father, in particular, is reportedly planning a face-to-face conversation with the Duke, as there remains "a lot of love" between them despite their geographical separation. A "well-placed" source told the Daily Express that the King intends to catch his son as soon as he wakes up in California with a Skype call arranged by staff.

The source added that, although the father and son aren't as close as they used to be, they still enjoy seeing each other. "The King will reach out to Harry on his birthday. Although the family are not as close as they once were, there is still a lot of love there. They tend to use Skype when they communicate because they can see each other and it's all set up by staff so it runs smoothly."

Prince Harry, who is set to have a conversation with his father this Sunday, made no reference to his Royal family in his statement about his upcoming 40th birthday. The Duke expressed his excitement about turning 40 in a statement released through a spokesperson, where he mentioned his children and his ambition to "do good in the world".

He stated: "I was anxious about 30, I'm excited about 40. Whatever the age, my mission is to continue showing up and doing good in the world". He further added: "Becoming a father of two incredibly kind and funny kids has given me a fresh perspective on life, as well as sharpening my focus in all my work," the prince said in a statement released by his spokesperson.

"Being a dad is one of life's greatest joys and has only made me more driven and more committed to making this world a better place. ".
