Prince memoir The Beautiful Ones to be released later this year

Prince's memoir The Beautiful Ones will be released later this year.

The book was originally announced just weeks before the musician’s death in 2016, with Random House now confirming to The Associated Press that it will be released on 29 October.

At 288 pages, The Beautiful Ones will combine Prince’s unfinished manuscript with rare photos, scrapbooks, and lyrics, alongside an introduction by New Yorker writer Dan Pipenbring, whom Prince had chosen as a collaborator.

The Beautiful Ones is the deeply personal account of how Prince Rogers Nelson became the Prince we know: the real-time story of a kid absorbing the world around him and creating a persona, an artistic vision, and a life, before the hits and the fame that would come to define him,” Random House announced.

The book will span from the musician’s childhood to the peak of his fame, culminating with his original handwritten treatment for Purple Rain.

Prince died of an accidental fentanyl overdose at his Paisley Park recording studio and home in Chanhassen, Minnesota on 21 April, 2016.
