An unearthed magazine cover featuring a young Duke of Edinburgh has led to many people to notice he bore a striking resemblance to his grandson, the Duke of Sussex.

Royal photographer Chris Jackson shared the image on Instagram, which was of an magazine cover of Paris Match from 1957 in which Prince Philip is 36 years old.

In the photograph, the late Duke of Edinburgh, who died on Friday 9 April at the age of 99, is wearing the Tropical Dress of the Blues and Royal, a cavalry regiment of the British Army.

Writing in the caption, Jackson said he was “blown away” by the photograph.

“I was reminded today of this incredible vintage @parismatch_magazine from 1957 I acquired a few years ago,” he wrote.

“I was blown away the minute I spotted it. It always reminds me of the unique, historic reference points that Royal photography provides.

“The front cover features a fantastically suave Prince Philip on tour with The Queen, check out my stories to see inside.”

However, the majority of Jackson’s followers were less interested in the image and more keen to point out how similar Prince Philip looked then to how to Prince Harry looks now.

“This is the first time I saw that Prince Harry looks exactly like his grandfather,” commented one person.

“I thought it was Harry,” another added.

Paris Match magazine posted a side by side image of the photo of Prince Philip and a photo of Prince Harry wearing traditional military garb, leading even more people to comment on the similarities.

Prince Harry has flown back from his home in Los Angeles to attend his grandfather’s funeral on Saturday, where he is due to be reunited with the rest of his family for the first time since his bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
