Yahoo News Prince William has been given a new title by the Queen
Prince William has added another accolade to his curriculum vitae.
It’s been announced that the Duke of Cambridge will now take on the role of Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. The appointment will last for 12 months, the role previously being held by several members of the Royal family including Princess Anne, Prince Charles, and Prince Edward. The Duke succeeds Richard Scott, the 10th Duke of Buccleuch and 12th Duke of Queensberry, in the role.
The official Kensington Palace Twitter account revealed, “The Queen has appointed Prince William as Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the @churchscotland this year.” Prince William will now represent the Queen by making official visits and carrying out ceremonial duties in Scotland on the monarch’s behalf.

As noted by the Royal Family’s official website, “The Lord High Commissioner’s role is to maintain the relationship between the State and the Church,” with the individual “appointed by Her Majesty on the advice of the Prime Minister.”
The Duke is set to attend the BAFTAs on February 2 with his wife. Attendees have been encouraged to consider sustainability in their outfit choices, and to recycle or borrow garments where possible.
