Yahoo News Prince William and Kate amused by review of their 's*****' bingo skills - as Kate is mistaken for his 'assistant'
Prince William and Kate were left in fits of laughter after a care home resident described their bingo calling skills as “s*****”.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge paid a visit to Shire Hall home in Cardiff, after a zoom bingo call with the residents back in June.
But not all the residents were enamoured with the royals’ skills, with Joan Drew-Smith telling the couple they did a “bloody s***** job”.
The 87-year-old had told the royals at the time it “wasn’t as good as it should have been” and William brought up her review straight away as they met.
He said: “Hello Joan, do you remember we did the bingo with you? You said we weren’t very good!”
After hearing her blunt reply, they were briefly taken aback before roaring with laughter.
Some were kinder, with Margaret Stocks, 95, winner of the virtual game, telling them: “I did enjoy it, I hadn’t played it before.”
Kate said: “Neither had we. That’s why we were so bad.”
William added: “We enjoyed it just as much as you did. It was a new experience for us.”
The couple, both 38, wore face coverings during the visit, despite it being outdoors, a reflection of the more vulnerable people they were meeting.
William told Drew-Smith: “We have to wear masks because of the virus, but it’s difficult to hear sometimes when you can’t see someone’s mouth.”

Drew-Smith asked if Kate was William’s “assistant”, which she laughed at before putting her hand on her husband’s shoulder, and saying: “Well I am your assistant, I have been for a long time!”
William later told staff: “I love Joan, she’s brilliant. If only everyone was as honest as her.”
The couple told staff they “were in the area” so popped in to see them. The duke and duchess made the visit after going to Barry Island to see how people can enjoy a staycation in the area.
Told they had been to Barry Island, one of the residents Arthur Hobbs, 86, asked: “Did you have a paddle in the sea?”
“No, we didn’t bring our bathers!” replied William. “Next time.”
