Prince William and Kate Middleton have flown away on their family holidays with their children and spaniel Orla.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who are both 40, were seen leaving their Kensington residence on Monday alongside Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, seven, Prince Louis, four, and their black dog.

Charlotte was spotted helping her younger brother Louis to a helicopter while William was carrying two heavy-looking bags.

They walked through a private field adjacent to the Nepalese Embassy near Kensington Palace in London where the helicopter waited for them.

Prince Louis could be seen skipping towards the helicopter, leading the way ahead of his siblings.

An onlooker told Mail Online: “It was very pleasing to see, the whole family were so smartly dressed and looked so nice carrying their luggage.

“It was quite sweet, they even had the dog with them. They were all carrying bags apart from Prince Louis. It was a really, really hot day too - they looked like they were going to have a picnic or something.

“They were definitely leaving London, at least that’s what it looked like.”

The family have flown together after they asked for permission to do so following the birth of Prince George in 2013.

Although they often fly with a pilot and crew, William - who has served as a pilot in the East Anglian Air Ambulance - will sometimes fly the family to their destination.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were all at the couple’s side during much of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations last month.
