What Prince William and Kate Middleton have told their kids about Princess Diana
Tomorrow, August 31, 2019, marks 22 years since Princess Diana tragically died in a car crash in Paris, leaving behind her two sons with ex Prince Charles, William and Harry who were just 15 and 12 when she died.
While we have known for years that the brothers, now 37 and 34, are keeping their beloved late mother's legacy alive by carrying on her humanitarian work and advocating for the causes that they believe in most, new information has been shed on what Diana's grandchildren know about her.
Ahead of the anniversary of Diana's death, insiders told Us Weekly that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have told their oldest two children, Prince George, 6, and Princess Charlotte, 4, about their late grandmother.
"George and Charlotte know all about their late grandmother and what an amazing woman she was," the source revealed. "William tells them she's watching over them from heaven."
The couple has also taken Diana's cue when it comes to the way that they parent George, Charlotte and Prince Louis, 16 months.
"Diana was such a wonderful mother," a royal insider told Us. "William and Kate are doing their best to take after her when it comes to raising George, Charlotte and Louis. They're determined to give their kids a normal life, just like Diana did."
In fact, the source added that, "if the kids misbehave, William often thinks to himself, 'What would my mom have done in this situation?'"
When it comes to commemorating the anniversary of her death, the future king will likely spend some solo time with his younger brother, as they've been known to do in years past, eating lunch or dinner together at Kensington Palace while sharing memories of their late mom.
"They talk about the little things about Diana that made them laugh: the ski trips and outings to Thorpe Park [a British amusement park]; the effort she went to on their birthdays -- all of it," a source said.
Princess Diana died at the age of 36 on August 31, 1997.
