Prince William To Meet Obama At White House

Prince William will meet Barack Obama at the White House next week during a three-day visit to the US with the Duchess of Cambridge.

The royal couple will spend most of their time in New York City, their first visit to the Big Apple.

But William will head to Washington DC on Monday for an Oval Office meeting with the president. He will also be introduced to Vice-President Joe Biden.

The second in line to the British throne first met Mr Obama during the president's visit to London in 2011.

The couple's 17-month-old son, Prince George, is not making the trip.

The Duchess of Cambridge, who is expecting their second child in April, has two events on her itinerary while her husband is in the nation's capital.

She will visit a programme for disadvantaged children in New York City, accompanied by the mayor's wife Chirlane McCray, and attend a lunch hosted by the British consul.

On Monday evening, William and Kate will go to a Cleveland Cavaliers-Brooklyn Nets NBA game.

The Duke and Duchess will also visit the 9/11 museum at the World Trade Center during their trip.

William has several engagements scheduled relating to his campaign against wildlife poaching.

While in Washington DC, he will discuss conservation at a World Bank conference, followed by a working lunch on illegal ivory smuggling.

The Duke and Duchess will both attend a reception to celebrate the work of his United For Wildlife coalition of charities.

A host of celebrities are expected to turn up to meet the couple at an event celebrating British talent in New York’s creative industries.

William will also attend an event hosted by a technology company, featuring UK and US entrepreneurs.

Their final engagement will be a $10,000-per-seat gala dinner at the city’s Metropolitan Museum of Art to raise funds for the couple's Scottish alma mater, St Andrews University, which is celebrating its 600th anniversary.

William and Kate's only previous American visit was a brief stop in Los Angeles in July 2011 at the end of their post-wedding tour of Canada.

Their trip will inevitably draw comparisons with Charles and Diana's visit to the US in 1985 when the Princess of Wales danced with President Ronald Reagan and John Travolta.
