Prince William releases statement in support of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

There’s nothing but brotherly love in Kensington Palace, as Prince William has reportedly released a statement supporting Prince Harry’s decision to ask the public to respect his girlfriend Meghan Markle’s privacy.

The Duke of Cambridge has refuted a recent report that claimed he was “deeply unhappy” over his younger brother’s heartfelt statement, which pleaded with the press and online trolls to stop their “abuse” of Meghan.

“The Duke of Cambridge absolutely understands the situation concerning privacy and supports the need for Prince Harry to support those closed to him,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson told The Telegraph in a new statement.

An insider told the publication: “They don’t issue statements like that without talking to each other, and they talked about the Meghan Markle statement extensively in advance of it being put out.

“The Duke was as alarmed as anyone about what was happening with Meghan.”

This follows Prince Harry’s original statement, which was released in early November. It read: “Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her.

“It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm. He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game.’

“He strongly disagrees. This is not a game – it is her life and his.”

The US actress, who is best known for her role as Rachel Zane on the TV legal drama Suits, recently shared her gratitude towards friends and fans amid her blossoming romance with Prince Harry.

Giving a shout out to those that have been particularly supportive of their new relationship, she tweeted: “Sending extra love to Emily, Sol, Domi, Hannah, Sih, Doris, Jessy Scarlett and all of you who have been so supportive. I’ve missed you guys.”

Harry and Meghan have been dating for six months after reportedly meeting in Toronto this past May, and the couple confirmed their romance a few weeks ago.

It has previously been reported that Harry is the “happiest he’s ever been” since their relationship began – and we could not be happier for the two of them.
