When Prince Harry revealed to his brother Prince William that Meghan Markle was pregnant with their first child, William responded simply with four words.

In 2018, the exhilaration was palpable when Duke and Duchess of Sussex learnt that they would soon be stepping into parenthood. It was at Princess Eugenie's nuptials with Jack Brooksbank in October of the same year where they chose to share the joyful news with the rest of the Royal family.

In his memoir, 'Spare', Harry recounts this memorable moment which happened during the reception at St George's Hall in Windsor. His description brings out an uncanny surrealism to the moment, as he writes: "We were in a big room, suits of armour on the walls. Strange room, strange moment."

Looking back at how William reacted to his announcement, Harry remembers him breaking into a smile before responding with just four simple words: "We must tell Kate.", reports the Mirror.

Princess of Wales' joyous reaction is worthy of mention too. According to Harry, she greeted the news with a broad smile and hearty congratulations, adding that their reactions were exactly what he had hoped for.

The news of their pregnancy was also shared with King Charles during the wedding. Recalling Charles' delighted response, the Duke of Sussex wrote, "Just before a drink reception for the bride and groom, we cornered Pa in his study. He was delighted to learn that he was going to be a grandfather for a fourth time; his wide smile warmed me."

Meghan Markle gave birth to their first child, Prince Archie, on 6 May 2019 at Portland Hospital in London. The couple later welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet, born at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California on 4 June 2021.

In his memoir, Prince Harry shared his experience of being present at the birth of his son, revealing that he was extremely anxious. To ease his nerves, he decided to use the laughing gas intended for Meghan.

However, when Meghan's labour intensified, Harry had to sheepishly apologise as he realised he had inadvertently used up all the laughing gas. He recounted: "When her contractions began to quicken, and deepen, a nurse came and tried to give some laughing gas to Meg."

"There was none left. The nurse looked at the tank, looked at me, and I could see the thought slowly dawning: Gracious, the husband's had it all. Sorry, I said meekly."
