According to Bloomberg Technology his estate is also in talks with a record label and all parties are hoping a deal can be completed ahead of the Grammy Awards next month.

It has been said that the ceremony is a great promotional opportunity and is bound to include a tribute to the late entertainer.

The estate won't license the catalogue until it has all the rights represented, while talks are fragile and could fall apart at any time – especially given the number of parties involved.

The website added: "If the labels, the estate and the services can reach a deal, they would restore Prince's music to most streaming apps almost two years after the artist yanked them off. "

It could mean we could see some re-releases of his albums and new compilations if this is all true.

Digital Spy has reached out to streaming sites Tidal, Spotify and Apple Music to for an official comment about the possible deal for access to his music.

Prince died of an accidental drug overdose of the synthetic opiate fentanyl back in April last year. He was just 57.
