Princess Charlotte is said have grown even closer to her cousin Mia Tindall, following her mother Princess Kate's cancer ordeal.

While the young royals have always seemed to have had a close bond, a source claims Mia, 11, has been "the perfect distraction" for Charlotte, nine, during the family's tough time last year.

In a double blow for the royals, Kensington Palace announced that King Charles had cancer in February, and weeks later, the Princess of Wales shared her own ordeal.

Kate is now in remission from cancer, while the King is still believed to be receiving treatment for his.

A royal source told Woman's Day: "What happened to Charlotte's mum shocked everyone, but energetic Mia was the perfect distraction for the princess throughout those scary months of 2024.

"Charlotte's always been in awe of Mia and her fun-loving side. There was some early 'my dad's the best' rivalry but not any more.

"Kate and Zara are happy to report their girls have formed a friendship for life."

Mia is the oldest of Zara Tindall, the daughter of Princess Anne. Zara and her husband Mike Tindall also have two other children; Lena, six, and Lucas, three.

More recently, a cute moment was captured of the girls on Christmas Day during the royal's walk to the St Mary Magdalene church on the Sandringham estate.

The video shows Mia rushing to catch up with Charlotte before they shared a joke together and continued their walk.

Royalists expressed their admiration for the pair under a picture from the day shared on Instagram.

One user typed: "Love that Charlotte and Mia seem to be so close - cousins are just the best!"

"Love their bond, just like their mom and dad growing up as kids," a third added.
