A major new exhibition celebrating the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, opens at Kensington Palace this week.

Diana: Her Fashion Story showcases a number of the Princess’s dresses to trace how her style evolved throughout her life, from her first public appearances to famous moments in her life as a much-loved figure.

The exhibition will include the velvet gown that she famously wore at the White House to dance with John Travolta.

Many of the outfits, including pared-down block colour suits, were created by the designer Catherine Walker.

Other highlights will include the pink Emanuel blouse she wore for a portrait by Lord Snowdon in 1981, and a recently rediscovered blue Emanuel suit that she wore on a trip to Venice.

Alongside the exhibition, which runs throughout the year, Kensington Palace are creating a White Garden in their grounds. Both will mark 20 years since Diana’s death. The garden, which will be installed for the spring and summer, will include flowers inspired by her life.
